This species of Calathea is native to the northwest region of Brazil and flourishes in tropical conditions. Its slender leaves are supported by thin, dainty stems. The gorgeous foliage has a unique striped pattern that incorporates both a silvery green and a rich waxy emerald. The leaves tend to spiral out from a central point, adding visual interest. Similar to other “prayer plant” varieties, the leaves of this species fold up at night and unfurl in the morning. Only reaching a few feet tall, the “Freddie” is a fantastic plant for both indoor and outdoor locations.
