Compact and easy on the eyes, the Burle Marxii is a fun plant that does a little more than just sit there and look pretty. Sometimes referred to as the “prayer plant”, this species has leaves that lay flat during the day and stand up at night. Its leaves are stripped with a fishbone pattern, alternating between light silvery-green and dark blue-green. The foliage is paddle shaped and attached to long stems. As the leaves fold up for the night, they reveal their beautiful maroon undersides. It is easy to see why these plants are well loved and highly prized.
